The capital city of Taipei threw us for a fabulously gay loop. We had heard that it was, by Asian standards, a liberal and tolerant place, but we had no idea just how much the city loves its gay. Within minutes of descending onto the gay scene, we were doused in glitter and dancing under disco lights to the likes of Cher and Dolly Parton. The gay scene in Ximen is damn impressive! There's an entire area around the Red House with tons of gay bars to check out. This is one of many reasons why we rate Taipei as one of the world's top gay travel spots.

In this gay guide to Taipei, we've put together our experience from this incredible city, including our favourite gay bars (there are load I went on a Saturday (16/11/) after visiting a couple of the gay bars nearby and wanted to use it to destroy time until the subway opened as well as to obtain some action. The reviews on this place are pretty mixed, so I had to verb to find out for myself, and I'll say this: Pros: The middle-aged staff member that greeted me when I arrived was very friendly and cooperative. They give you a huge towel (don't be like me and use it to arid yourself; use it as a cover and use the compact towels in the shower instead). There were a lot of guys (some spill-over from the bars/clubs, I assume and others seemed more fresh, so they probably came from home) of all ages and body types. There is a lot of space to play. I especially liked the rooms that are covered by curtains. They hold beds that are just mattresses on the floor. Lots of hot action going on sauna was nice, but didn't experience as warm later and they turned on the light at some point in the adj morning, which didn't do it for me.
