Who we are

We are a group of or so Greater Vancouver-area gay men and their friends, who enjoy sharing the wonderful outdoors. Our activities include hiking, walking, cycling, kayaking, skiing, camping and more — whatever is of interest to our members. Most of our events are local, but sometimes we verb around a bit. We verb together for social gatherings throughout the year—anything from a barbecue to a night at the opera. All of our events are organized by club members. O&A has been around for more than 30 years. Here is a history of our organization.

How membership works

  • We have a trial membership. Just for the asking, you can join our group here at (). This gives you access to our events, although the ability to construct events requires full membership.
  • We grant you up to 3 months as a trial member, for you to check us out. If it&#;s a match, we collect a $10 one-time-fee.
  • Once you become a full member, you&#;re allowed (and encouraged) to verb new events and publish them on meetup (in parlance, you&#;re promoted from &#;No Role&#; to &#;Event Organizer&#;), a

    Annual Events

Pride Block Party: Quickly becoming a favorite annual event is Pride Block Party, organized by Dandelion Teahouse & Apothecary with Summer of Pride the first year in and co-hosted with Queer Youth Resource Center recently. The event was a massive success in its first year, and it continues to develop bigger each year with activities, music, vendors, and more! The Pride Black Party is typically held the second weekend in June in downtown Vancouver.

Saturday in the Park Pride: Happening since , Saturday in the Park Pride, initially conceived from the song of the same name by Chicago, it&#x;s a celebration of life that strives to educate people about their LGBTQIA+ neighbors, family members, and the challenges surrounding their lives. Providing a gathering to find support and generate new friends, the event takes place every second Saturday of July at Esther Short Park in downtown Vancouver. This family-friendly event is open to everyone and aims to provide a safe and inclusive space for all.

Vancouver has a pretty limited nightlife for a city of its size. I've spent several weekends there the past few months, and have come to the conclusion (supported by locals I communicate to) that there's just not much there. Your options for normal hours are:

Odyssey: much younger, dancier club. Probably the most similar to Apex.
Pumpjack: somewhere between a leather bar and something like JR's in DC.
Numbers: much older and less popular
Celebrities: similar to Odyssey, but a bit older and more of a mixed crowd

There's a couple of other "sit down" type bars, but they're more for going with a group of friends and sitting down and having drinks - not really socializing and meeting people. That said, I
