Summer camp isn’t just for kids: A supportive friendly atmosphere for LGBTQ adults
Relive – or perform over – summer sleep-away camp fun as an LGBTQ individual at the rustic ‘Camp’ Camp in southwestern Maine.
Like traditional camps for kids, ‘Camp’ Camp has outdoor sports, arts and crafts and evening campfires. Unlike traditional camps for kids, all the activities are optional and attendance is by no means required.
Among the sports, choose from aerobics, biking, hiking, softball, sailing, canoeing, kayaking and swimming in the camp's lakes. There’s a climbing wall and courts for basketball, pickleball, tennis and volleyball.

Jamboree is a great, inexpensive vacation like you've never experienced before! Each year, 2SLGBTQIA+ adults (19+) from the Out & Out club rent a summer camp in the Haliburton area (3 hours northeast of Toronto). You’ll stay in shared cabins in the woods, overlooking a personal lake, and spend your days doing many of the enjoyable things you did as a kid at camp: swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, hiking, playing volleyball, making crafts, hosting parties, putting on a talent show – or just relaxing on the dock. Jamboree is a not-for-profit, volunteer-run event. A single price includes your accommodations, activities, meals, and snacks.
The People
Everyone across the entire 2SLGBTQIA+ spectrum is welcome. Typically, about one third of the people attending identify as female, just over half identify as male, and many

To better understand the impact of summer camp experiences on sexualities, the study analyses retrospective interviews with former campers about their experiences at a summer camp, as well as podcasts and blogs. We address two key areas of camp life: sexual firsts and being openly queer at camp. Many campers are less likely to be out at camp than they are at home. The exception to this is when there are visible staff or counsellors that are out at
